Another way iPads can help you sell is by capturing leads or collecting consumer information. An app that does this well is QuickTapSurvey.
Thanks for commenting Bart, you are right engagement and relationship development is extremely effective. Working with organizations and sales people in a variety of industries I really watch how sales people engage and always puzzled by the fact that most seem detached. If you forget the fact that performance often has a direct impact on the amount of money they take home at the end of the day, it can't be a lot of fun going through the day on auto-pilot.

A really engaging post - I agree completely. As a consumer you are far more likely to feel valued when a sales assistant for example in a book store as you mentioned was to offer you some recommendations - even if they are not right for you at that time. Chances are next time you need something specifically you are more likely to return to that same bookshop where the assistant is willing to go above and beyond to satisfy you as their customer.

Engagement and relationship development with customers is extremely effective!

Hi Frithjof,
I do like the iPad better and the ability to use Keynote as an app makes it very easy to customize. We have set up structured sales processes on both and like anything else you start to figure out the tricks to get it done. I have seen some issues with mobile apps and it is important to test the apps before you present them as the apps do sometimes have less functionality.

I like to set up the tablet so that I don't have to connect to the internet at all (if possible). I think we are going to see more sales organizations integrate the tablet into their sales process.
One of products I am keeping my eye on is Story Desk (storydesk.com) which allows you to have full blown sales presentations and keep your sales team updated with the latest materials.
